From Saturday 21 December to Monday 6 January, we will be closed. Happy holidays!
When realising our custom-made furniture, our wood is processed with the utmost care. We are economical with our material and also consider it important to handle our residual wood consciously. From the furniture association, Royal CBM, WoodLoop was introduced a few years ago. Residual chipboard, MDF and other AB wood are collected in special crates and these are collected and recycled. However, our crates do not fill and empty themselves by themselves. Wouter, our own Chef-WoodLoop, makes sure everything runs like clockwork. He takes care of tracking, scanning and preparing them for shipment. We are very happy that he is helping us in this mission!
This month we take a look at our paint shop. Our furniture makers can make furniture just as beautiful as it is, but our sprayer is the one who puts the finishing touches on the furniture before it goes to the customer. In our workshop, we have our own paint shop. Depending on the furniture, we choose the right treatment and paint. Of course, the customer is the one who determines the colour. After spraying, the paint has to dry and harden before we can assemble and finally deliver. Meubelmakerij De Stoof supplies the most beautiful furniture to new construction projects Eikelenburgh, De Parels, De Rijswijkse Vlechterij, Parkrijk De Lanen, and many more!
Gluing solid wood requires a lot of feeling and insight. We carefully select the wood for the top of a dining room table, desk or sideboard. Our joiners look at the amount of knots, the length and thickness of wood. Then the boards go into the glue press. The glue seams are pressed shut and the front tensioners keep the worktop flat and stable. The glue press can distribute the pressure well and ensures strong and high-quality joints. Ode to the glue press!
To make life a bit easier for our staff and ourselves, we installed some nice new (electrically operated) overhead doors this summer. So it all looks neat again and we can load and unload with ease!
We offer a BBL track for pupils of the HMC (Wood and Furnishings College). Making furniture is best learned in practice. Our joiner / BBL apprentice Brian completed this BBL course with us. He successfully completed his project independently, making a complete wall unit. After all, what better way to learn than just doing it?
The wall unit Brian worked on is one inspired by a piece of furniture from one of our customers. It is a piece of furniture where many different techniques had to be used. The most fun part for Brian was at the same time the most complicated part. After all, gluing the HPL and making a curve requires dexterity. Sawing also required precision because the slightest deviation would be noticed immediately. Everything was worked out in a well-considered way and the end result is quite something! Brian, you can be proud, we are too! And Brian's advice to subsequent students? Keep asking questions to learn... Want to see this cabinet in real life? Stop by our showroom....
During discussions with our employees, a very important issue came up; physical strain. To prevent complaints, we had STEP Netherlands carry out a QuickScan on the shop floor. During this scan, an expert looks at how people work and what working posture an employee adopts. Would you like to read the whole article? Click here!
‘Tilletje!’ You can hear this cry going through our workshop on a regular basis. But how do you lift in the right way? In cooperation with STEP Netherlands, we organised a tailor-made training course for the team. A bit of theory and, above all, a lot of practice. A fun and instructive afternoon! No new furniture without wood... New oak wood was delivered last week. Shelves full of wood and the wonderful smell make our hearts beat faster. We can get back to work for the time being....
In an apartment in Noordwijk, the last pieces of furniture were hoisted in with a crane and we supplied, among other things, a custom-made kitchen. It is a good example of the interior construction projects of Meubelmakerij De Stoof. For large projects like this we work together as a team. Then (almost) nothing is impossible.
